ART/admin was an Erasmus+ project that run from September 2023 to December 2024. It was a culture/administrative project where we invented tools and methods for making the process easier when procuring public Art. Read about it in this course.
Our project aims to support officials in the complex and highly regulated process of planning, commissioning, and developing public art and culture. These processes require extensive collaboration between stakeholders with diverging goals, often leading to inefficiencies.
As a background to the project, we saw a lack of experience, knowledge, and structural support for navigating legal and practical challenges in this field and this insight was crucial, as gathering insights could significantly enhance the process. Initially, we focused on improving the quality, clarity, and accuracy of key working documents through standardized templates. However, inspired by other initiatives, we saw the need for an educational program that could provide customized templates tailored to local contexts and project-specific requirements.
Our primary objective was to simplify the process for officials while ensuring a more supportive and effective collaboration with artists. Beyond template development, we recognized the necessity for deeper expertise in bureaucracy, legal frameworks, and negotiation. Current processes often create tension between officials and artists, stemming from a lack of understanding of both legal and artistic considerations.
